Iran accuses Israel of being the root cause of insecurity in the region whereas in reality Palestinian militias are being used as pawns in Iran’s war against Israel. Israel believes that Jenin is the operations centre for the armed wing of Hamas — the Izz ad-Din Qassam Brigades — the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and the Fatah-affiliated network of Al Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades and now the Jenin Brigade. Many of these groups and others are classified by Iran as ‘Resistance fighters.’ The secretary general of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad resistance movement, Ziyad al-Nakhalah stated clearly in the Tehran Times that he thanked Iran, Hezbollah for their help. The IRGC commander Esmail Qaani said on 13 May 23 that Iran will continue to provide unwavering support for young Palestinian resistance forces and their “strong heroic front” to the greatest extent possible. He asserted that such support and concerted efforts will continue until the Israeli regime is fully annihilated. Qaani also said, that this is the fruit of the resistance front and global mobilization of Muslims. Regional resistance groups, for their part, have praised Iran for its consistent support. The Islamic Republic of Iran for weeks has been predicting the fall of the ‘Zionist’ regime also bragging that the Zionist government was about to be crushed. In May 23 Major General Salami stated “The Zionists who were boastful a few months ago are now shocked to see that more than 30 armed attacks take place in the occupied territories each day.” “Big events are just around the corner. This is the pattern of the unexpected fall of powers” Boasts like these are common but it also shows that not only is Iran in the driving seat but its proud to announce that it knows of ‘big’ events. Who gains? Iran. On the 3 Jul 03 the Tehran Times a government run propaganda outlet issued a report distorting facts and accusing Israel of conducting wrongful actions in order to build up its hate of Israel. By distorting facts and providing propaganda Iran is the only beneficiary. Who suffers? The Palestinians. They are encouraged to stand up and ‘resist’, they are the ones whose lives are lost and leave families to grieve. The propaganda is used to encourage other groups to do the same it does not show the Jenin Brigade losing, only the alleged damage that it is causing against Israel. Who wins? Iran by playing on the Palestinian cause for independence and encouraging the forming of militant groups to fight only helps Iran’s ideology to battle its enemy. Cut out the Iranian equation and you would have peace in the Middle East. True leaders lead by example and from the front not by getting others to conduct tasks that they lack the morale stance to do.
