Future dates and anniversaries can often be used as a reason why terrorist’s carryout attacks.  The 361 Terrorist and Security Report are displaying these dates for people’s awareness.

16 Apr 2012 – Afghanistan:  Near-simultaneous attacks against Western facilities and government buildings in Kabul end after 18 hours of fighting; Taliban claim responsibility.

 

17 Apr 1999 – United Kingdom:  David Copeland a lone wolf terrorist targeted blacks, Asians and gays in London, United Kingdom, with nail bombs.  His aim was to start a race war.

 

17 Apr 2004 – Gaza Strip:  Israelis kill Hamas Gaza Strip leader Dr Abd al-Aziz al-Rantisi.

 

17 Apr 1946 – Syria/France:  French troops evacuate Syria, the date is known as “Evacuation Day” and is a national Holiday.

 

18 Apr 2010 – Iraq:  Abu Ayyub al-Masri and ‘Umar al-Baghdadi, leaders of al-Qaeda in Iraq, killed in Coalition raid in Baghdad.

 

18 Apr 1983 – Lebanon:  Car bomb explodes in front of US Embassy, killing 63 and wounding over 100; Hezbollah responsible.

 

19 Apr 1995 – United States:  Truck bomb explodes at Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in

Oklahoma City, killing 168 and wounding hundreds; Timothy McVeigh found guilty and executed 11 June 2001.

 

21 Apr 2004 – Saudi Arabia:  Terrorist car-bombs Riyadh police headquarters, killing 10 and wounding 125.

 

23 Apr 2010 – United States:  Zarein Ahmedzay pleads guilty to conspiracy charges associated with Najibullah Zazi’s plan to attack New York City subway system.

 

23 Apr 2010 – Iraq:  Multiple blasts targeting Shia mosques in Baghdad kill 69, wound more than 100; Iraqi officials blame al-Qa‘ida.

 

26 Apr 570 AD – The birthday of the Islamic Prophet Muhammad.

 

27 Apr 1999 – Greece:  Anti-NATO bombing in hotel kills one and injures one; Revolutionary Cells responsible.

 

28 Apr 2011 – Morocco:  Bomb kills 15 in Marrakech café frequented by Westerners in first major attack in country since May 2003; government blames AQIM but group denies responsibility.

 

28 Apr 2012 – United States:  Terry Jones is the pastor of Dove World Outreach Centre, a small nondenominational Christian church in Gainesville, Florida, United States who along with twenty others burned copies of the Holy Book the Koran.

30 Apr 1945 – Germany:  The death of Adolf Hitler.

30 Apr 2003 – Israel:  Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade suicide bomber attacks Tel Aviv pub, killing three and wounding 64, including one US citizen

 

30 Apr 1980 – United Kingdom:  Six armed men took 26 people hostage in the Iranian Embassy in London, United Kingdom.  The event finished (05 May 80) when members of the British Special Air Service mounted an operation to free the hostages.  The hostage takers were members of a group campaigning for autonomy of Iran’s Khuzestan Province.
