17 Nov 1997 – Egypt: Al-Gama’at al-Islamiyya attack at Temple of Hatshepsut in Luxor leaving 71 dead.
20 Nov 1979 – Saudi Arabia: The seizure of the Grand Mosque in Saudi Arabi was an armed attack and takeover by Islamist dissidents of the Al-Masjid al-Haram in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, the holiest place in Islam. The insurgents declared that the Mahdi, or redeemer of Islam, had arrived in the form of one of the insurgent leaders, Mohammed Abdullah al-Qahtani, and called on Muslims to obey him. The incident lasted until 4 Dec 1979.
20 Nov 2003 – Turkey: Vehicle explodes in front of British Consulate General killing 30 and injuring 450; al-Qaeda claimed responsibility.
22 Nov 1979 – Pakistan: False rumours of a United States takeover of the Grand Mosque in Mecca, Saidi Arabia, fuel Islamic militants attack on US Embassy in Islamabad.
26 Nov 2008 – India: Terrorists attack several sites in Mumbai; sieges end three days later with more than 170 dead and 300 injured; surviving attackers say Lashkar-e-Taiba (LT) were responsible.
