09 Sep 2001 – Afghanistan: Opposition leader Ahmad Shah Mahsood killed by two al-Qaeda suicide bombers.
11 Sep 2001 – United States: Four hijacked passenger planes were used as aerial bombs against prominent locations in the United States. Two were deliberately flown into the World Trade Centre in New York; one was flown into the Pentagon; the forth was crashed into a field in Shanksville, PA. Nearly three thousand were killed. Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda were responsible.
11 Sep 2012 – Libya: United States diplomat facilities in Benghazi attacked; Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans were killed.
13 Sep 2011 – Afghanistan: United States Embassy and NATO headquarters in Kabul were attacked in simultaneous attacks with Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPG’s) and small arms fire; Taliban claim responsibility.
